If you are in NYC, after occupying the Stock Exchange, the subways and the square, come discuss the issues and see former Weather Underground member Mark Rudd, live, in "GRAMPA WAS A TERRORIST," at NYU's Steinhardt Auditorium, 34 Stuyvesant Street, Room 105, at 7:30pm.
Mark Rudd led the legendary 1968 occupation of five buildings at Columbia University, a dramatic act of protest against the university's support for the Vietnam War. As charismatic chairman of the Columbia chapter of Students for a Democratic Society, the largest radical student organization in the United States, Rudd became a national symbol of student revolt. He went on to co-found the Weathermen faction of SDS, which helped organize the notorious Days of Rage in Chicago in 1969 before going underground. Mark will speak about the intended and unintended humor of '60s activism.Revolutionaries Live! " lecture series organized by the Yes Men and the Yes Lab which examines how revolutions and moments of social change happen by speaking with those in the thick of it.

THE YES MEN + US Uncut: General Electric to return billions to public - NOT The punch line: General Electric's stock shed $3.5 billion, after the AP and several other reputable news organizations picked up and ran with the bogus story. Media response has been good.

DO YOU WANT TO BE ONE OF THE YES MEN?? The Yes Lab is a series of workshops, brainstorms and trainings that help progressive groups carry out Yes Men-style actions on their own.
The Yes Men have been doing their thing for about 12 years. Many of the best projects have been in collaboration with activist groups—the
BBC announcement on behalf of Dow Chemical came out of a collaboration with Greenpeace, for example. We collaborated with a coalition of groups to
release a much-improved end of the war edition of The New York Times . Also in collaboration with activists, we headed to the nations capitol and
re-branded the U.S. Chamber of Commerce , and preempted Chevron's enormous new “We Agree” ad campaign
with a satirical version of our own .
In part because of these successes, we've realized it's high time for us to get systematic about helping activist groups highlight life-or-death issues—with or without the Yes Men's participation. That's what the Yes Lab is all about.
The Yes Lab might be right up your alley if you want to learn about:
- Using humor to open minds, share ideas, and change the world
- Organizing an effective mass action with two hundred or so volunteers, minus a ginormous budget
- Fooling mainstream press outlets using satirical releases and websites cobbled together with string, thumbtacks and chewing gum.
